Perfect Sweet Tea

Sweet iced tea. A true southern staple, right?

Well, I’ll be honest. I don’t drink tea. Yes, I know. Justin likes to make fun of me for it too. But, I am working on liking it. I learned to like catfish, now I am learning to like sweet tea.

For so long, I couldn’t figure out why I liked some tea and not others. Well, not like so much as try to like. Some teas just have this… twang? Is that the right word? Either way, some just don’t taste great. And some are really smooth. The  big question was why?

So, while wandering around Pinterest, I found a recipe for sweet tea. My love is addicted to sweet tea. And I have been wanting to make him some forever, but the one time we tried just making it on the stove, well…let’s just say it ended badly. My dad always makes it, can manage on the stove, and has a tea maker, too. Which is what I wanted, so that I could make him tea regularly. Now, I can!

I found the Perfect Sweet Tea recipe at Craving Comfort. Go check it out and make sure to pass on how great it is!!

Now, on her site, she gives suggestions. I will tell you what I ended up actually using, but check hers for other tweaks.

Sweet Tea

7 Family size tea bags (Justin likes Luzianne)
4 cups boiling water
12 cups cool water
2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda

  1. Sprinkle baking soda in bottom of container. Add tea bags. Pour boiling water on top of tea bags and cover for 15 mins.
  2. After 15 mins, remove tea bags, add the sugar, stir until fully mixed.
  3. Add the cool water, then refrigerate until cool.

This is such an easy recipe! And tastes good! Yes, me, who doesn’t really care for tea, says this!! That’s something right!!

So, pass it on, and make sure to tell them you got the recipe at Craving Comfort!  As much as I like the tea, I want to make sure you send them to the real original post! She deserves the props for this sweet new favorite!!

Thanks Craving Comfort!!

In the Fridge: Easy Chocolate Fudge

I, like so many other women, have gotten shall we say, enthralled, with Pinterest.  This has, in many ways, been the reason I decided to do a blog. To share things I’ve found on there and decided to try out on my own.  Such as this:

Super Easy Fudge. That alone should stop you. My grandma makes great fudge. But when a recipe consists of “a cup of sugar and just enough milk to make it creamy” and “boil somewhere between 5 and 7 mins”, I fail at it. I’m not the best cook in the world, but I will say that many others enjoy my treats. So I searched for a great recipe…and was led to this one.

Easy Chocolate Fudge

Easy Choc Fudge

3 Cups chocolate chips (semi or dark)

14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

1/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 tsp vanilla

1. Melt the chocolate chips, milk, and salt in a pan until smooth.

2. Remove from heat and add vanilla, quickly stirring it in.

3. Quickly pour mixture into lined 8×8 pan.

4. Let cool in fridge for min of 45 mins.

If you like nuts you can add them in. I, personally, make basically nothing that has nuts.

It is as good as it looks in those pictures too!!! Very rich, but perfect for a warm day!!

Enjoy!!
